Greg has been originating mortgages for over 20 years and has helped over 5,000 families through the homebuying process. He has been ranked in the top 1% of mortgage lenders in the U.S. since 2013.
Greg’s career began in education and counseling; where he worked as a school counselor and coach for eight years prior to entering real estate. The same listening and caring approach he honed as a counselor continues to serve him in every interaction with clients and team members.
Greg has led The Cowart Team, backed by NFM Lending, as branch manager for seven years. He is regarded as one of the top lenders in Central Virginia. He has close relationships with top agents and builders in Richmond, and values being an extension of their team. Greg has a passion for customer service and going above and beyond to advise and guide his clients through the complex and often emotional homebuying process.
Greg is a proud father of three young adult children and has been married for 26 years. He is originally from Charleston, S.C., and moved to Richmond after graduating from James Madison University in 1994. He later earned an advanced degree in counseling from Virginia Commonwealth University.
When not helping families buy homes, Greg enjoys travel, cycling, gardening, triathlon, volleyball, and yoga.
